The Basic Operation Certificate means you are limited to basic operations, whereas the Advanced Operation Certificate means more options for flight and you can apply for an SFOC. Essentially the difference is on how and where you can operate the drone.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/agbusiness.ca\/drones\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ebeesqcrop-580x274-480w1.png\" alt=\"ebeesqcrop-580x274-480w1\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"274\" width=\"580\" title=\"ebeesqcrop-580x274-480w1\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 100vw\" srcset=\"https:\/\/agbusiness.ca\/drones\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ebeesqcrop-580x274-480w1.png 580w, https:\/\/agbusiness.ca\/drones\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ebeesqcrop-580x274-480w1-300x142.png 300w, https:\/\/agbusiness.ca\/drones\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ebeesqcrop-580x274-480w1-420x198.png 420w, https:\/\/agbusiness.ca\/drones\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/ebeesqcrop-580x274-480w1-315x149.png 315w\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t<h4>Basic RPAS \/ Drone Flight Operations<\/h4>\n<p>If you meet all 3 of these conditions, you&#8217;re conducting basic operations:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You fly it in uncontrolled airspace<\/li>\n<li>You fly it more than 30 meters (100 feet) horizontally from bystanders<\/li>\n<li>You never fly it over\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tc.gc.ca\/en\/services\/aviation\/drone-safety\/flying-drone-safely-legally.html#bystander\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bystanders<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For basic operations, here are some of the rules you must follow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tc.gc.ca\/en\/services\/aviation\/drone-safety\/register-drone.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Register your drone<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with Transport Canada before you fly it for the first time<\/li>\n<li>Mark your drone with its registration number<\/li>\n<li>Pass a Transport Canada exam. (see below)<\/li>\n<li>Be able to show your Pilot Certificate &#8211; Basic Operations and proof of registration when you fly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<h4>Advanced RPAS \/ Drone Flight Operations<\/h4>\n<p>If you do not meet any 1 of the previous 3 conditions for basic operations, you are conducting advanced operations. For advanced operations, here are some of the rules you must follow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pass the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tc.gc.ca\/en\/services\/aviation\/drone-safety\/get-drone-pilot-certificate\/exam-advanced.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Small Advanced Exam<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tc.gc.ca\/en\/services\/aviation\/drone-safety\/get-drone-pilot-certificate\/flight-review.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Pass a flight review<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with a flight reviewer<\/li>\n<li>Fly within the operational limits of your drone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can only use drones that meet the safety requirements for the operation you want to conduct. See tips on\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tc.canada.ca\/en\/aviation\/drone-safety\/choosing-right-drone#approved\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">choosing the right drone<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0before you fly.<\/p>\n\t<h4>Micro drones (under 250 grams) and drones that weigh more than 25 kilograms<\/h4>\n<p>Micro drones (under 250 grams) and drones that weigh more than 25 kilograms do not fall into the basic or advanced operations categories. If you have a micro drone, you must fly it away from aircraft and airports. Never put people, aircraft or property in danger. Only fly your drone where you can see it and avoid flying in clouds or fog. Always fly responsibly.<\/p>\n<p>If your drone weighs over 25 kilograms or you want to fly outside the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tc.gc.ca\/en\/services\/aviation\/drone-safety\/flying-drone-safely-legally.html#legal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rules<\/a><\/strong>, you will need to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tc.gc.ca\/en\/services\/aviation\/drone-safety\/get-permission-fly-drone-outside-rules.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">get special permission<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0from Transport Canada before you fly.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><!-- .vgblk-rw-wrapper -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What you can expect to study: Transport Canada&#8217;s Drone Flight School list web page states: &#8220;These schools have self-declared that they provide training in line with Transport Canada standards.&#8221; Our training may be longer than some as we believe in a thorough, experienced, and proven program that is designed for professional RPAS\/drone pilots.
